:: Takoradi Port - The Heart of the West

The Takoradi Port, built about 79 years ago (1928), remains the oldest and unique Port in Ghana. Unique in the sense that the Port handles Manganese, bauxite, sawn timber among others as export products.

Unlike Tema Port which was specially built with modern facilities to take bigger and larger vessels, Takoradi Port has a limited space, but we hope for future expansion to attract bigger vessels and investors.

Ghana's two ports have over the years executed creditably with so many achievements made, as the Authority can boast of properly maintaining the sea ports with fleet of port equipment, various rehabilitation and developmental projects to maintain successful business operations.

Under the good management of the Port, the Authority have since 2001 increased private sector participation from two (2) to seven (7) stevedoring companies all operating at the Takoradi Port as indicated below:

* Dash wood Stevedoring

* Atlantic Port Service

* Golden Gate Stevedoring Company Limited

* Advanced Stevedoring Company Limited

* Odart Stevedoring

* Speedline Stevedoring

* C T S
